Despite having gone through an atopic summer, the Spanish are very much to go out in summer. We love the terraces, the cold beers, the meals with friends, the appetizers before eating or doing any improvised plan for no reason.
It is seen that there is an inertia in our body that when it feels the warmth and the sun shines, there is “something” that pushes us to leave the house. But hey, we also know how to make good barbecues in the chalets of our friends or family. Sometimes they even take longer than expected. Everything falls within the northern lights of summer.
All these exits or entrances make us sin more. Who says to sin, says to enjoy. And the most requested appetizers this summer have been very varied, and at Gastronomic Spain we are always in fashion. Here we show you the typical Spanish products that are best sold in the summer season:
Iberian shoulder
We are all connoisseurs and, I would dare to say experts, of Iberian ham, but who can tell me something about Iberian shoulder? The Iberian shoulder comes from the front legs of the Iberian pig. A cured shoulder smaller than ham but just as delicious.
It is a highly requested product, and not only in summer, but throughout the year. The Iberian shoulder is the perfect substitute for Iberian ham and it is true that we always find it at all events. In fact, on many occasions we have our Iberian shoulder hooked to the ham holder in some corner of our kitchen, and many other times we have at least 3 packages of sliced Iberian shoulder. Because when there is ham, there is no one to stop us. And if not, ask your grandmother when she prepares family meals on Sundays.
Sobrasada from Mallorca
Sobrasada from Mallorca, oh my god! The perfection made gastronomic aperitif. A Spanish jewel fallen from the sky, well, not fallen, but made in the Balearic Islands yes.
It is one of the most traditional sausages in Spain and Gastronomic Spain offers it to you in different formats. Mallorca sobrasada is made from pork, seasoned with salt, black pepper and paprika.
Wherever there is a cap of toasted bread with sobrasada, let the rest be set aside. And if it is in summer even more, because being a fresh product, it is ideal.
An excellent appetizers!
Lupins
Another of the star products of this summer have been lupins. Lupins are an unknown legume for many, but not so much for others. Lupins are called by different names: lupins, tramussos, chochos or almorta. Possibly in each region it is called differently, but all these names have something in common is their addiction.
Lupins are like pipes: after one, the whole package goes. That is the law of life. But best of all, lupins are very rich in protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals. In short, it is a more than perfect aperitif to even abuse it.
Pork loin
Who has not enjoyed an assortment of Iberian products this summer? I think we have all sinned from it. Well, who says sin … if all sins were like eating Iberian, what a simple life we would have.
The stuffed loin is one of the main products of the Iberian assortment. And possibly the great competitor of Iberian ham is the stuffed loin. But with nothing to envy. It is a product that comes from the pork in which we melt when we eat it. It is as delicious as it is exquisite and for that, it has been so valued this summer.
Pork rinds
Pork rinds have also triumphed on their own, especially on bar terraces. The crusts are a snack, snack, or aperitif, whatever you want to call it, very atypical, like lupins.
Many people go straight to the typical: potatoes, olives, omelette, etc. But the crusts always win, even to any demanding palate.
Appetizers like pork rinds are not many.
Sausage
Salchichón is another product of the sausage family that has gained strength this summer. Who is resistant to fuet? I could say that very few …
The salchichón is like the stuffed loin, one of the main products of the Iberian assortment. And in summer we make many use of this so Spanish assortment.
The curiosity of the salchichón is that it is a product that is not used much, hardly even, in dishes of Spanish gastronomy. However, it is very typical in the composition of sandwiches or as tapas, which is why it triumphs so much.
Pork belly
Bacon is one of the products that has the most flavor, since its fat content is high. Pork belly is part of the animal itself and is often confused a lot with bacon and bacon, although they are totally different products despite their origin being the same.
A piece of bacon well fried on the grill, accompanied by a bravitas and a good craft beer is the perfect aperitif combination.
Anchovies in vinegar
Anchovies in vinegar are a very traditional aperitif from the Iberian Peninsula. It is so common and popular that its fame has spread throughout Europe. Anchovies, like anchovies, are another of the top appetizers of our day to day.
Imagine that you are with your friends, with beer in hand and preparing the Valencian paella, what cannot be missing so that hunger does not kill us? Indeed, the anchovies!
Calabizo
The calabizo is the great discovery of this year. Calabizo is the new vegan chorizo made exclusively from pumpkin. This vegan pumpkin chorizo is very rich and is the perfect substitute for Iberian chorizo, made with natural products.
The calabizo came strong and is being beaten in our online store. It is not for less! It is not for less! It is one of the ideal appetizers!
Manchego cheese
Last but not least, we also want to give a special mention to Manchego cheeses. Whether they are cured, semi-cured or old, each one of them shines for soleares and they do not need anything to succeed.
Manchego cheese has always been one of the main appetizers of our gastronomy, and it always will be.
