Our “Vela Salchichón” sausage is of the best quality. This candle-shaped “salchichón”, which is made with the greatest pig meats, becomes the highlight of the aperitif time. It is made from the lean meat and fat of white pigs from the Guijuelo region.

Vela Salchichón characteristics

It is vacuum-packed cold meat that comes in whole piece and is about 23 cm long and 3 cm thick.

It is dark brown on the outside with purple tones, although on the inside it takes on a lighter brown colour with white flecks of fat that have been mixed in. Due to its thickness, this sausage is cured for a short period of time. It is not usually cured for more than 2 to 3 months. The result is an ideal “salchichón” for snacking, as an appetizer or to fill your sandwiches.

The noble meats and fat from the white pig are combined to make it. The finely minced meats are combined with Moriles wine, nutmeg, and whole black peppercorns. Once well mixed, they are placed in an artificial casing and let to cure for two to three months in the Nieto Martín cellars.

It has a delicate scent, and it is vital to remove the skin before eating because it’s not edible. It is advised to cut it into tiny pieces that are no thicker than half a centimetre. As a result of the pepper that was employed in its preparation, it has a moderate flavour in the tongue with hints of a certain intensity.

Vela Salchichón ingredients:

White pork, white pork fat, salt, lactose, dextrin, soya protein, milk protein, dextrose, spices, wine, stabilisers (E-451 i), antioxidants (E-316 and E-331 iii), preservatives (E-250 and E-252), flavouring and colouring (E-120). Wrap is not edible.
